Throwback! 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis GS
Behold, the land yacht
Over the years I’ve had many cars. From simply driving for enjoyment to the need for utility each one was special in some way. Here you can get a glimpse of each one.
Thinking back I would have to say it was around 1992 that I bought the Oldsmobile. After having had a accident which totaled my Pontiac 6000, I found myself driving this car which was almost the same car in terms of body style and engine. As a matter of fact, about the only difference in the body of the two cars was the front and rear fascias.
I had my share of problems with this car and spent a good deal of green on repairs during my ownership. When I eventually traded her in for the Grand Marquis the dealership even remarked about the stack of repair receipts in the glove box (not limited to a new engine!).
Even with all the repairs though I stilled enjoyed driving this car. She had power windows and locks, power drivers seat, tilt wheel and a 2.5 liter 4–cylinder engine. The front seat was a 60/40 split bench with the arm rest integrated into the drivers portion. She also had A/C but unfortunately that never worked. The cost to have repaired was more than I was willing to spent back then.
Below I dug up some pictures of the Ciera. As I recall these pictures were take shortly after I bought her.
