In February of 1996 I purchased my Grand Marquis, a big car with
a fantastic ride. This car was basically the "base" model
Grand Marquis. It had A/C, power windows/locks, power driver's seat,
gray velour cloth interior, power outside mirrors and a 5.0 liter
V-8 power plant.
I enjoyed driving this car because of it size. The long wheelbase
gave this car a great ride smoothing out almost any road. The 60/40
split-bench front seat was quite comfortable.
The stock cassette deck was barely adequate though so I installed
a Kenwood cassette head unit with CD changer controls and mounted a
Kenwood 6-disc CD changer in the trunk. The units installed quite
easily even considering the additional time I spent running the
changer control cable under the trim and behind the dash.
Later, I had a Sidewinder alarm system installed which performed
flawlessly and saved me some green on the insurance.
My friends often called it my "grandpa-mobile" but never once did
they complain when we took my car to go out for the evening.
There was plenty of room for everyone to sit without being cramped as
we headed to our destination.

Oddly, I was only able to dig up this one photo of my beloved
Grand Marquis.
